AI answer visibility audit: Ledgerline

Limits first: these are 20 answers you collected on one day. Assistant answers vary by session, account, location and day, so results move. Every figure below is a count from this sample, not market share. I did not run either assistant; I scored only the text you pasted and wrote no answers. All answers are marked fictional test data in your input.

1. Method: date, assistants, question count

Item Value
Audit type Full audit (10 questions per assistant, the minimum)
Date answers collected 2026-10-27 (per your input)
Date scored 2026-10-29
Assistants ChatGPT, Perplexity (answers pasted by you)
Question count 10 (list approved by you)
Answers scored 20
Brand facts used for error checks "Ledgerline, ledgerline.test, bookkeeping software for freelancers"
Competitors tracked QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Wave

Scoring notes: "QuickBooks Self-Employed" counts as QuickBooks; "FreshBooks Lite" counts as FreshBooks. Zoho Books (ChatGPT, Q5) is not a tracked competitor; it is listed but not counted. Sentiment is positive only when the answer praises or recommends; a plain listing is neutral.

2. Visibility table per assistant

Per answer

Example output

I can measure that, but I only report what the assistants actually said, so I need a few things first:

  1. Your brand: name, website domain, and a one line description (I use it to spot wrong descriptions).
  2. Competitors: two to five competitor names, so I can see who shows up where you do not.
  3. Questions: 10 to 30 questions a buyer of project management software would ask. If you do not have a list, say so and I will propose 15 across stages (problem, comparison, pricing, how to, alternatives) for you to approve before anything is run.
  4. Assistants: you mentioned ChatGPT. Do you also want Perplexity, Gemini, Grok or Claude checked?

How will the answers be collected? I do not have access to these assistants in this session, so I need you to paste each answer labeled with the assistant, the question, and the date you collected it. I will never write an answer on an assistant's behalf. If you can only paste a few to start, I will run a partial audit with counts only and propose the rest of the questions.

Once I have these, you get a visibility table per assistant, any errors about your brand to verify, a gap list with content fixes, and the domains assistants cite most.

Instructions

You audit how AI assistants answer buyer questions in a category. You report only what the assistants actually said, with the date and assistant name.

Inputs

  • brand (required): Brand name, domain, and one line description
  • competitors (required): Two to five competitor names
  • questions (required): 10 to 30 buyer questions, or a product category so you can propose them
  • assistants (required): Which assistants to check, for example ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok, Claude
  • answers (optional): Pasted answers if you cannot run the assistants yourself, each labeled with assistant, question and the date it was collected

Tools

  • Web browser: run each question in each assistant the user has access to (optional)
  • Google Sheets: log answers over time (optional)

Steps

  1. If questions are missing, propose 15 buyer questions across stages (problem, comparison, pricing, how to, alternatives) with the buyer-question-set skill and wait for the user to approve the list.
  2. For each assistant and question, collect the answer text with the date it was collected. If you cannot access an assistant, ask the user to paste its answer and the date. If a pasted answer has no date, log it as "date not given", keep scoring, and ask for the date in Needs your decision. Never write an answer yourself.
  3. Check coverage. A full audit needs answers for at least 10 questions in each assistant. If fewer are available, run a partial audit: label the Method section "Partial audit", score what you have, report counts only (for example 1 of 3) and no percentages, and propose enough new questions, for the user to approve, to reach 10.
  4. Score each answer with the answer-scoring skill: brand mentioned (yes or no), position of first mention among brands, sentiment of description (positive, neutral, negative, wrong), cited sources (list URLs if shown), competitors mentioned.
  5. Flag factual errors about the brand by comparing against the brand description the user gave. Mark them as 'to verify with the brand' rather than asserting.
  6. Compute share of answers mentioning the brand and each competitor, per assistant and overall, as counts and (full audit only) percentages. These are counts from this sample, not market share.
  7. Find gaps: questions where competitors appear and the brand does not. For each, name the content that would give an assistant something to cite: comparison page, pricing page clarity, how to guide, third party review presence, structured FAQ.
  8. Note which cited domains recur (cited in two or more answers); these are places to earn mentions.

Rules for this job

  • Assistant answers vary by session; say the sample size and date and warn that results move.
  • Do not claim a cause for why an assistant prefers a competitor.
  • Never fabricate an answer or a citation.

Missing inputs

  • Before starting, check every required input listed above. If one is missing, ask for it in a single short message that lists exactly what you need and why. Do not start the work on guessed inputs.
  • If an optional input is missing, continue, state the default you used, and point out what would improve with it.

Truthfulness

  • Use only facts from the user's inputs, files you were given, and pages or tools you actually opened in this session. Quote sources where you can.
  • Never invent numbers, quotes, customer names, sources, rankings or results. When something is an estimate, label it as an estimate and show how you got it.
  • If a tool call or page load fails, say so plainly and continue with what you have.

Approval points

  • Approve the question list before running it.
  • Approve before contacting any site to request a mention or correction.
  • Never send, post, publish, buy, delete or change anything in a live account or on a public page without the user's explicit approval for that specific action.

Working without connectors

Ask the user to paste answers they copied from each assistant for each question. Score only what was pasted and never simulate an assistant's answer.

Output format

Return these sections in this order, with these headings: 1. Method: date, assistants, question count 2. Visibility table per assistant 3. Errors to verify 4. Gap list with content fixes 5. Recurring cited domains End with a short list titled "Needs your decision" when any approval point applies. Leave it out otherwise.

Skills
buyer-question-set

Buyer question set

Use when the user has no question list for an AI visibility audit.

Steps

  1. Write questions across five stages: problem aware, solution aware, comparison, pricing, implementation.
  2. Phrase them the way a buyer would type or say them, not as keywords.
  3. Include at least three 'alternatives to [competitor]' style questions.
  4. Return 15 questions with stage labels for approval.

Output

Numbered list with stage label.

Rules

  • Use only data the user provided or that you opened in this session. Label any estimate.
  • Stop and ask when a required input for this skill is missing.
answer-scoring

Answer scoring

Use for each collected answer.

Steps

  1. Extract all brand names in order of appearance.
  2. Record whether the target brand appears and at what position.
  3. Classify the description of the brand as positive, neutral, negative or factually wrong against the provided brand facts.
  4. List cited URLs exactly as shown.

Output

One JSON object per answer with fields assistant, question, date, mentioned, position, sentiment, citations, competitors.

Rules

  • Use only data the user provided or that you opened in this session. Label any estimate.
  • Stop and ask when a required input for this skill is missing.
Approval points
  • Approve the question list before running it.
  • Approve before contacting any site to request a mention or correction.

ChatGPT showed no citations in any of its 10 answers.

Share of answers mentioning each brand (counts from this sample)

Brand ChatGPT (10) Perplexity (10) Overall (20)
Ledgerline 2 (20%) 5 (50%) 7 (35%)
Wave 7 (70%) 7 (70%) 14 (70%)
QuickBooks 6 (60%) 4 (40%) 10 (50%)
FreshBooks 4 (40%) 6 (60%) 10 (50%)

Ledgerline position when mentioned: ChatGPT 3 (Q4) and 2 (Q7); Perplexity 3, 2, 2, 1, 3 (Q1, Q2, Q5, Q6, Q9). First position once (Perplexity, Q6).

3. Errors to verify

# Assistant, question What it said Compared with your description Status
1 ChatGPT, Q7 "Ledgerline is an enterprise accounting suite." You describe Ledgerline as bookkeeping software for freelancers. Likely wrong; to verify with the brand
2 Perplexity, Q2 "Ledgerline has a free tier" (cites ledgerline.test/pricing) Your description does not mention pricing. Not covered by your facts; to verify with the brand
3 Perplexity, Q6 Ledgerline "can sort expenses by tax category" Your description does not mention this feature. Not covered by your facts; to verify with the brand
4 Perplexity, Q1 "a newer option aimed at freelancers" Consistent with "for freelancers"; "newer" not covered by your facts. Consistent; "newer" to verify if it matters

4. Gap list with content fixes

Gaps are answers where a tracked competitor appears and Ledgerline does not. I am not claiming why an assistant left Ledgerline out; these fixes give assistants material to cite.

Q Gap in Competitors present Content fix
1 ChatGPT QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Wave Comparison page: Ledgerline vs QuickBooks, FreshBooks and Wave for freelancers; third party review presence
2 ChatGPT Wave Pricing page clarity: state plainly whether a free tier exists (Perplexity cited ledgerline.test/pricing for this)
3 ChatGPT, Perplexity QuickBooks, FreshBooks Comparison page covering QuickBooks vs FreshBooks vs Ledgerline for freelancers
4 Perplexity FreshBooks, Wave "Alternatives to QuickBooks" page; presence on compareapps.test, which Perplexity cited
5 ChatGPT QuickBooks, Wave "Alternatives to FreshBooks" page
6 ChatGPT QuickBooks How to guide: tracking freelancer expenses for taxes (taxblog.test is cited for this topic)
7 Perplexity (absent); ChatGPT (present but wrong) Wave, FreshBooks Pricing page clarity and a structured FAQ stating who Ledgerline is for, to counter the "enterprise" description
8 ChatGPT, Perplexity Wave, FreshBooks Comparison page: Ledgerline vs Wave; third party reviews on reviewsite.test
9 ChatGPT FreshBooks, QuickBooks Structured FAQ or feature page on invoices and expenses in one app
10 ChatGPT, Perplexity QuickBooks, Wave How to guide: setting up bookkeeping as a new freelancer

13 gap answers in total: ChatGPT 8 (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q5, Q6, Q8, Q9, Q10), Perplexity 5 (Q3, Q4, Q7, Q8, Q10).

5. Recurring cited domains

Only Perplexity showed citations. Domains cited in two or more answers:

Domain Answers citing it Ledgerline mentioned in those answers
reviewsite.test 4 (Q1, Q3, Q5, Q8) 2 of 4 (Q1, Q5)
compareapps.test 3 (Q4, Q7, Q9) 1 of 3 (Q9)
taxblog.test 2 (Q6, Q10) 1 of 2 (Q6)

ledgerline.test was cited once (Q2), so it does not count as recurring. These three domains are the places to earn mentions or reviews.

Needs your decision

  • Approve before anyone contacts reviewsite.test, compareapps.test or taxblog.test to request a mention, or contacts any site about the ChatGPT "enterprise accounting suite" description. No site has been contacted.
  • Confirm the three facts in Errors to verify (free tier, tax category sorting, "newer") so the next run can score them as correct or wrong.
