Domains to configure

Your tag_info says the same GA4 measurement ID is on lanterntheatre.example and tickets.boxly.example, so the tag check passes for both. Google's page scopes the tag to "each domain that you want to include". pay.stripe.com is a third party payment page you cannot tag, so it is not configured here; it goes to unwanted referrals below.

D Domain Same tag (from tag_info) Condition to add Match type
D1 lanterntheatre.example yes lanterntheatre.example your choice; the type names are not confirmed in the sources (question 3)
D2 tickets.boxly.example yes tickets.boxly.example your choice; the type names are not confirmed in the sources (question 3)

Unwanted referral candidates

Referral row Sessions Handling
tickets.boxly.example / referral 1,240 own domain (D2), handled in Configure your domains
pay.stripe.com / referral 310 third party payment page, unwanted referral candidate, HELD until you confirm
lanterntheatre.example / referral 95 own domain (D1), handled in Configure your domains

The three rows are not added together; I don't know whether the same visits appear in more than one row.

Hop tests

Hop From To Action Expected _gl Risk
H1 lanterntheatre.example tickets.boxly.example/show/123 click a 'Buy tickets' button _gl on the tickets.boxly.example/show/123 URL none known; check whether that link redirects
H2 tickets.boxly.example checkout pay.stripe.com, then tickets.boxly.example/thanks submit the checkout form not expected on pay.stripe.com (not tagged); check that tickets.boxly.example/thanks shows no new pay.stripe.com referral redirect back from pay.stripe.com; Google says "_gl may end up being removed" when pages redirect

Google's page says IDs pass "via a URL parameter (_gl)". Whether the unwanted referral fully keeps the session together after H2 is a test, not a claim.

Admin steps (held)

Every step is HELD until you approve. 1. Admin > Data collection and modification > Data streams > your web stream > Configure tag settings > Configure your domains. Add conditions for lanterntheatre.example (D1) and tickets.boxly.example (D2). HELD. 2. In Configure tag settings, click List unwanted referrals and add pay.stripe.com. HELD. 3. Run both hop tests. I will not call sessions fixed until H1 shows _gl and H2 no longer shows pay.stripe.com as a source. HELD.

Google's page says you "must be an Editor or above" on the account for this (question 2).

Questions for you

  1. Do you want tickets.boxly.example included in your measurement? Your input shows your tag is there; please confirm.
  2. Do you have Editor or above on the Google Analytics account?
  3. Which match type do you see offered in Configure your domains? I can't name the options from the saved sources.
  4. Does any 'Buy tickets' link on lanterntheatre.example redirect before reaching tickets.boxly.example?

Needs your decision

  • Approve adding lanterntheatre.example and tickets.boxly.example in Configure your domains (HELD).
  • Approve adding pay.stripe.com to List unwanted referrals (HELD).
