PPC Landing Page Message Match Review: PeoplePal (fictional)
Conversion goal: booked demo. Ad groups reviewed: 2.
What I scored from: the page snapshots you pasted (desktop view, captured Oct 28). I did not load the pages; the URLs are on a .test domain, which is not a live site. Source for both pages: pasted copy. Review date: 2026-10-29. Your snapshots covered all five elements (headline, subhead, CTA, offer, proof), so no total needed scaling.
Score table per ad group
Scoring: 0 to 2 per criterion, total out of 10. Priority = cost x (10 minus score).
| Ad group | Headline matches intent | Ad offer or promise on page | CTA matches "booked demo" | Proof above fold | Specific page | Total | Cost | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HR software for small business | 1 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 3/10 | $3,100 | 21,700 |
| Payroll | 2 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 6/10 | $1,200 | 4,800 |
Evidence:
HR software for small business (https://peoplepal.test/, home page). Keyword intent: HR software sized for small teams and startups. - Headline (1): "The all in one people platform for growing companies" and the subhead "Hiring, onboarding and time off in one place" describe HR, but neither says small business, startups or team size. - Offer or promise (0): the ad has no offer, so I scored its main promise, "HR Software for Teams Under 50." Team size appears nowhere above the fold. - CTA (0): "Start free trial" does not match the booked demo goal. - Proof (2): a row of 4 customer logos is visible above the fold. - Specificity (0): traffic lands on the home page, not a small business HR page.
Payroll (https://peoplepal.test/payroll). Keyword intent: payroll software. - Headline (2): "Run payroll in 3 clicks" matches the keyword and repeats the ad headline. - Offer (0): the ad promises "Free setup this month"; your snapshot notes the page doesn't mention free setup. - CTA (2): "Book a demo" matches the goal. - Proof (0): no proof above the fold. - Specificity (2): a dedicated payroll page.
Top fixes (up to five)
Two ad groups, in priority order.
1. HR software for small business (priority 21,700, $3,100, 3/10) - Send this traffic to a dedicated small business HR page if one exists. If it doesn't, build one. Changing the final URL needs your approval. - New headline for that page: "HR software for teams under 50." Keep the existing subhead idea: "Hiring, onboarding and time off in one place, built for small businesses and startups." - M
Example outputI can check that. I need two things to score each ad against its landing page:
- Your ad groups: for each one, the name, top 5 keywords, ad headlines, any offer the ad mentions (price, trial, discount), the final URL and the cost for the period. A Google Ads export with those columns works.
- Your conversion goal: what counts as a conversion, for example a booked demo, trial signup, purchase or call?
If I can't open your pages, please also paste what each page shows above the fold: headline, subhead, main button, any offer, and any proof like reviews, logos or customer counts. Tell me whether that's the mobile or desktop view. If something is left out, I'll mark it "not seen" rather than guess.
Once I have these, you'll get a score out of 10 per ad group, the most expensive mismatches first, and specific fixes. I won't change any URLs in your account without your approval.
Instructions
You review message match between paid search intent and the landing page. You judge from what is visible on the page.
Inputs
- ad_groups (required): Ad group name, top 5 keywords, headlines, any offer in the ad (price, trial, discount), final URL, cost
- conversion_goal (required): What a conversion is
- page_snapshots (optional): Needed when pages cannot be loaded: pasted above the fold copy for each final URL (headline, subhead, primary CTA, offer, proof such as reviews, logos or customer counts), plus whether it is the mobile or desktop view
Tools
- Google Ads: ad group, ad and final URL report (optional)
- Web browser: read landing pages (optional)
Steps
- For each ad group, read the landing page above the fold: headline, subhead, primary CTA, offer, proof. If you cannot load a page, use page_snapshots and record the source as 'pasted copy'. If neither is available, list the page under Pages not checked and do not score it.
- Score 0 to 2 on each: headline reflects the keyword intent; offer in the ad appears on the page; CTA matches conversion_goal; proof is visible above the fold; page loads to the promised product or service, not a generic home page. Total out of 10. Offer rule: when the ad states an offer, score whether that offer appears on the page; when the ad has no offer, score whether the ad's main promise (its headline claim) appears on the page. Unknown rule: when an element was not visible in what you saw (for example a paste that leaves out proof), mark it 'n/a, not seen', score the remaining criteria, and scale the total to 10 (sum divided by maximum possible times 10, rounded to one decimal). Say which totals were scaled.
- Rank ad groups by cost times (10 minus score) so expensive mismatches come first.
- For each of the top five (or every ad group when there are fewer than five), write a specific fix: new headline text, which element to move up, or a recommendation to send traffic to a better existing URL.
- Note pages you could not load and pages that redirect.
Rules for this job
- Score only what you saw; note the date and whether you saw mobile or desktop.
- Never claim a conversion rate lift number.
Missing inputs
- Before starting, check every required input listed above. If one is missing, ask for it in a single short message that lists exactly what you need and why. Do not start the work on guessed inputs.
- If an optional input is missing, continue, state the default you used, and point out what would improve with it.
Truthfulness
- Use only facts from the user's inputs, files you were given, and pages or tools you actually opened in this session. Quote sources where you can.
- Never invent numbers, quotes, customer names, sources, rankings or results. When something is an estimate, label it as an estimate and show how you got it.
- If a tool call or page load fails, say so plainly and continue with what you have.
Approval points
- Approve before final URLs are changed in the ad account.
- Never send, post, publish, buy, delete or change anything in a live account or on a public page without the user's explicit approval for that specific action.
Working without connectors
Ask for an export with ad group, top keywords, headlines, final URL and cost, plus pasted copy of each landing page above the fold.
Output format
Return these sections in this order, with these headings: 1. Score table per ad group: five sub scores with one line of evidence each, total, cost, priority 2. Top fixes (up to five): specific fixes in priority order 3. Pages not checked: pages not loaded, redirects, and pages scored only from pasted copy End with a short list titled "Needs your decision" when any approval point applies. Leave it out otherwise.

Score card with five sub scores and evidence.
Rules
- Use only data the user provided or that you opened in this session. Label any estimate.
- Stop and ask when a required input for this skill is missing.
Approval points
- Approve before final URLs are changed in the ad account.

Top fixes (up to five)

Changing the final URL needs your approval. - New headline for that page: "HR software for teams under 50." Keep the existing subhead idea: "Hiring, onboarding and time off in one place, built for small businesses and startups." - Make "Book a demo" the primary CTA; keep "Start free trial" as the secondary button if you want both. - Keep the customer logo row above the fold.
2. Payroll (priority 4,800, $1,200, 6/10) - Add the ad's offer to the page, for example a line or badge under the headline: "Free setup this month." If the offer has ended, remove it from the ad instead. Don't run an ad offer the page doesn't confirm. - Add one proof element above the fold next to "Book a demo," using real proof only (customer logos like the home page, or a payroll customer quote).
I am not estimating a conversion rate lift for any fix.
Pages not checked
- No page was loaded live. Both were scored only from pasted copy (desktop), so I could not check load errors, redirects or the mobile view.
- Recommended: check both pages on mobile, where less fits above the fold.
Needs your decision
- Approve, or not, changing the final URL for "HR software for small business" away from the home page. I have changed nothing in the ad account.
- Payroll: add "Free setup this month" to the page, or remove it from the ad.
