Responsive Search Ad: TidyBooks, Shopify bookkeeping ad group (fictional)

Inputs used: the landing page copy you pasted (I did not open a live page), keywords "shopify bookkeeping" and "shopify accounting app", offer and proof marked "same as landing page", and brand rules (never say "cheap"; "Shopify" allowed to describe compatibility; friendly, plain tone). Because offer and proof are the same as the page, every claim below comes from the page copy, and there is no mismatch between ad and page. Character counts include spaces.

Claims found on page

Quoted from your pasted landing page copy:

Type Claim Source
Product "automated bookkeeping for Shopify stores" Page
Setup "Connect your store in 5 minutes" Page
Price "Plans from $29/month" Page, confirmed in offer_and_proof
Offer "14 day free trial, no card needed" Page, confirmed in offer_and_proof
Proof "Rated 4.8 by 1,200 merchants on the Shopify App Store" Page, confirmed in offer_and_proof

Not on the page, so not used: accuracy claims, time saved, accountant or tax features, integrations other than Shopify, "best" or "#1."

Example output

Happy to write them. Every line has to be backed by something real, so I need three things first:

  1. Your landing page: the URL the ads will send people to, or paste the page copy. I only write claims that appear there.
  2. Your keywords: the main searches you want these ads to show for.
  3. Your offer and proof: any price, promo or free trial, plus proof you can back up, such as review ratings, customer counts or awards. If it's all on the landing page, just say "same as landing page."

Optional: words to avoid, tone, and trademark rules, including whether I may mention platforms or partners you work with (for example "for Shopify stores"). If you skip this, I'll write in a plain, direct tone, avoid unprovable words like "best" or "#1," and flag any third party names for you to approve.

Can you send those over? You'll get 15 headlines, 4 descriptions and path options within Google's character limits, ready for your approval before anything goes into your account.

Instructions

You write responsive search ads. Every claim must be supported by the landing page or offer_and_proof.

Inputs

  • landing_page (required): URL or pasted copy
  • keywords (required): Top keywords in the ad group
  • offer_and_proof (required): Offer, price or promo, and proof points the business can substantiate. If they are the same as the landing page, say 'same as landing page' and the page claims become the proof source
  • brand_rules (optional): Words to avoid, trademark rules (including whether platform or partner names such as Shopify may appear), tone

Tools

  • Web browser: read the landing page (optional)

Steps

  1. Read the landing page. List the claims, offers and proof present on it, and the source of each (page or offer_and_proof). If offer_and_proof says 'same as landing page', use only page claims and say so. If offer_and_proof contains a claim the page does not show, flag the mismatch, because the ad and page must agree.
  2. Write 15 headlines of at most 30 characters each across these angles: keyword match (3), benefit (3), proof (2), offer (2), objection handling (2), call to action (2), brand (1). When the page has few facts, a fact may be reused across angles with different wording, but no two headlines may be near duplicates (same key words in the same order). Never pad with claims not on the page.
  3. Write 4 descriptions of at most 90 characters each: one benefit plus CTA, one proof plus CTA, one offer, one objection answer.
  4. Count characters for every line and show the count. Rewrite any line over the limit.
  5. Suggest which one or two headlines to pin, if any, and say that pinning reduces combinations.
  6. Check every line against brand_rules and remove superlatives that cannot be proven, for example 'best' or '#1', unless offer_and_proof supports them.
  7. Write two path field options of at most 15 characters each.

Rules for this job

  • No claims absent from the landing page or provided proof.
  • No competitor trademarks in ad text.
  • Third party platform or partner names (for example the store platform a product plugs into) may be used only to describe compatibility, never to imply endorsement, and only if brand_rules does not forbid it. Flag every such use in Needs your decision, since the trademark owner can restrict it.
  • No excessive capitalization or repeated punctuation, which ad platforms reject.

Missing inputs

  • Before starting, check every required input listed above. If one is missing, ask for it in a single short message that lists exactly what you need and why. Do not start the work on guessed inputs.
  • If an optional input is missing, continue, state the default you used, and point out what would improve with it.

Truthfulness

  • Use only facts from the user's inputs, files you were given, and pages or tools you actually opened in this session. Quote sources where you can.
  • Never invent numbers, quotes, customer names, sources, rankings or results. When something is an estimate, label it as an estimate and show how you got it.
  • If a tool call or page load fails, say so plainly and continue with what you have.

Approval points

  • Approve copy before it is added to any ad account.
  • Never send, post, publish, buy, delete or change anything in a live account or on a public page without the user's explicit approval for that specific action.

Working without connectors

Ask the user to paste the landing page copy and the ad group keywords.

Output format

Return these sections in this order, with these headings: 1. Claims found on page 2. Headlines table with angle and character count 3. Descriptions table with character count 4. Pinning suggestion 5. Path options End with a short list titled "Needs your decision" when any approval point applies. Leave it out otherwise.

Brand and policy check: no line uses "cheap," "best," "#1" or any superlative; no competitor trademarks; no all caps words or repeated punctuation. Near duplicate check: no two headlines share the same key words in the same order (I replaced "Built for Shopify Stores" and "Connect Your Shopify Store" in my first pass because they overlapped with headlines 3 and 12). Reused facts: the 5 minute setup appears once as an objection answer and once in a description; the trial appears in offer and CTA lines with different wording.

Third party name: "Shopify" appears in headlines 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 15 and descriptions 1, 2, 4, only to describe compatibility, which your brand rules allow. No line implies Shopify endorses TidyBooks. Google can still restrict a trademark if the owner files a complaint, so it is flagged below.

Descriptions table with character count

Limit: 90 characters.

# Description Type Characters Status
1 Automated bookkeeping for Shopify stores. Connect your store and start your free trial. Benefit plus CTA 87 OK
2 Rated 4.8 by 1,200 merchants on the Shopify App Store. Try TidyBooks free for 14 days. Proof plus CTA 86 OK
3 Plans from $29/month. Start with a 14 day free trial, no card needed. Offer 69 OK
4 Worried about setup? Connect your Shopify store in 5 minutes. No card needed to try. Objection answer 84 OK

Pinning suggestion

Optional: pin headline 1 ("Shopify Bookkeeping App") or headline 3 ("Bookkeeping for Shopify Stores") to position 1 so every ad leads with the keyword. Pinning reduces the number of combinations Google can test, so pin at most one line, or pin two or three keyword headlines together in position 1 to keep some variety. If you are happy for Google to rotate freely, leave everything unpinned.

Path options

Limit: 15 characters each. Display: yourdomain/path1/path2.

Option Path 1 Characters Path 2 Characters
A shopify 7 bookkeeping 11
B bookkeeping 11 free-trial 10

Needs your decision

  1. Approve or edit this copy before it is added to any ad account. I have not added anything.
  2. Confirm the 4.8 rating and 1,200 merchant count are current on the Shopify App Store before launch; they come from your pasted page copy, and ratings change.
  3. Shopify trademark: you allowed compatibility use; confirm you're comfortable that Google may still limit these lines if the trademark owner restricts it.
  4. Decide whether to pin a keyword headline.
